What product should I buy for my children?

Initially the hang-tag was designed with the toddler in mind. It could clip-on to their jeans, over-alls, shorts, track suit top or shirt and they couldn’t remove it. However, older kids wanted one to go on their bag and school backpack. In winter, when we are all rugged up in our coats and gloves, wearing a hang-tag on the outside of your coat is a very practical option. So it’s totally up to the kids, if they like it, they will wear it. And it doesn’t matter where they wear it (wrist or ankle), just as long as they do.

How do I get my toddler to wear a wristband?

Getting a toddler to wear a wristband can be challenging; it’s just like when they start to wear a hat or shoes -- it’s new and they want to take it off. As parents you have to be positive, patient and persistent. Put the wristband back on as soon as they take it off and explain that “we love you and we want you to wear this wristband so you are safe”.

You have purchased either a hang-tag or a wristband. Now how to plan ahead?

When you place the hang-tag or wristband on your child, explain to them why they are wearing it, emphasising identification and safety. Also tell them how it makes you feel.

Teach them that if they become separated or lost, that they can contact a shop/park assistant, a parent with a child or a police officer and ask for help. By showing them the hang-tag or wristband they can phone you and you can be reunited very quickly.

Make sure your children understand that they should never look for you outside the shop, park or venue you have entered together.

Plan ahead, so that each day you and your children spend together is full of only happy memories.

What can I use to write on the hang-tag or wristband?

We recommend you use a extra fine tip permanent marker that dries instantly on the inside of the hang-tag or the back of the wristband. Such as a Pilot CD/DVD marker EF, other permanent markers such as a NIKKO Name Permanent Ink Marker No.150 or a Pilot EF – Super color markers do work however they may slightly bleed into the pad printing. A pilot CD / DVD marker EF appears to write and wear the best long term.

To prevent smudging of the details, make sure your writing is dried before closing the hang-tag or wearing the wristband.

We recommend not using an ink pen. You will find the words will rub off.

How do I care for the hang-tag or wristband?

When your hang-tag or wristband is dirty simply wash the outside of either product with warm soapy water and dry carefully and thoroughly. To prevent the metal studs, snaps and clip (carabineer) from tarnishing / rusting we recommend that whenever you get the hang-tags or wristbands wet you make sure you dry them properly.
