Identification is essential

In 2004, I was shown a single use paper-like ID wristband. Nothing special, however the peace of mind I felt when putting it on my daughter’s wrist at a very crowded show was unforgettable.

Just knowing that she was wearing her name and our mobile phone number made me feel at ease, I didn’t like the fact that all this information was exposed but I was still relieved that she was wearing it. However, she didn’t like it, it was uncomfortable, “it hurt”, and eventually she pulled it off. That was my first experience with identification wristbands.

Our family then grew with the addition of a son, whose toddler days were typically adventurous: hiding in clothing racks, playing hide ‘n’ seek and wandering off in different directions. Like any toddler, give him an inch and he will run a mile. I had to do something. I had to make sure he was wearing identification.

So after researching what was on (and not on) the market, I realised he needed an ID hang-tag, something I could clip on his jeans, overalls, shorts, track suit top or shirt. It would identify him, allow me to be contacted via a phone number if we became separated and raise awareness to his health alert / allergy status. Essential information that every kid should have on them – and wear everyday.

My older daughter needed a wearable yet fashionable ID wristband, not like the one she had worn. The information needed to be inside, just like the hang-tag, as I didn’t want strangers knowing her name; children are less likely to fear someone who knows their name.

So WHO AM I LOOK INSIDE was established to encourage everyday kids’ identification and safety.

WHO AM I LOOK INSIDE, researched and developed two products: a hang-tag and a wristband. By having different options, four hang-tags and fifteen wristbands in total, I trust that kids will happily wear their chosen design with confidence and that there will be no tantrums or arguments when putting them on. My own children love them.

Each hang-tag and wristband means your child is wearing at all times:

  • Identification
  • Essential phone numbers
  • Health alert/allergy information

Most importantly this information is not publicised but found only when you ‘look inside’, that is by flipping the hang-tag open or by turning the wristband over. All this information is handwritten with a fine-tip permanent marker, ensuring your child’s privacy at all times.

Encourage your kids to wear a WHO AM I LOOK INSIDE hang-tag or wristband everyday, and imagine the peace of mind you will feel, knowing that another parent, coach or supervising adult can quickly access your child’s needs and your contact details when required.
